Walking Between Villages
Paths local families use daily, linking Hmong and Dao hamlets.
North
Terraced valleys, village paths and considered encounters in Vietnam’s northern highlands.
Sapa town itself has grown a great deal. The reason to come is what surrounds it: terraced valleys worked by Hmong and Dao families, and footpaths that link one hamlet to the next.
Two or three days lets you walk between villages rather than drive to viewpoints. We choose the routes by what the weather and your legs will actually enjoy, not by what fits on a brochure.

Layered neighbourhoods, quiet courtyards and a food culture best discovered with a local.

Carved over generations. Gold in September, mirror-flat in May.

Time with the women who still dye and weave the cloth themselves.

Vietnam’s highest peak, by cable car or on foot.
When to travel
Blossom in the valleys and skies clearing after the winter cloud. Good walking weather.
The terraces are flooded and mirror-bright in May, then deep green. Heavy rain makes trails slippery and can close mountain roads.
Gold across the terraces and the clearest mountain air of the year. The busiest window, and worth it.
Cold, sometimes below 5°C, with thick cloud sitting in the valleys and frost on the high ground.

As demanding as you want. Routes range from an hour on flat valley paths to a full day with real climbing. We match it to you.
Late August to early October for the gold of the harvest; May and June when they are flooded and reflect the sky.
In winter, yes — Sapa sits at 1,500 m and can approach freezing, often with thick cloud. Bring layers in any season.
